Can Mosquitoes Get On Cruise Ships

Cruise Ship Mosquitoes: A Bug's Life

Are you at risk?

The answer may surprise you...

While encountering mosquitoes on a cruise ship is highly unlikely, it's important to understand the potential risks.

Typically, mosquitoes are found in areas where the water is stagnant. Not so much on a moving ocean.

However, mosquitoes, sand flies, and other biting insects can be a nuisance if you're spending time on the beach or in port.

The easiest source of mosquitoes on a ship is from Indian Tonic Water. Not to be confused with Tonic.

I have never seen a mosquito on a cruise ship. In port, the ship docks hundreds of yards away from land.

Still, it's always a good idea to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, such as wearing long sleeves and pants, using insect repellent, and staying indoors during peak mosquito hours.

And if you do get bitten, be sure to wash the area with soap and water and apply a cold compress.
